2025 Kentucky Composting Conference

Thank you to every farmer, composter, educator, and soil-health advocate who joined us October 8–9 for the 2025 Kentucky Composting Conference. Kentucky agriculture thrives when its soil does, and this year’s gathering proved that our farmers are leading the way toward a more resilient, sustainable future.

The event kicked off with pre-conference tours that put composting into real-world context: attendees stepped into working facilities, explored practical systems, and sparked conversations about how organics can nourish fields instead of filling landfills. Those hands-on experiences set the stage for connection and actionable learning throughout the conference.

A special highlight celebrated the legacy and leadership of Jean Bonhotal, who received our composting award in recognition of her decades of empowering farmers with knowledge, confidence, and the tools to turn waste into wealth for their soils. Her impact continues to grow across Kentucky and far beyond.

From panel discussions to hallway brainstorms, the spirit of collaboration sprouted everywhere. Participants shared techniques that reduce input costs, improve soil structure, boost yields, and keep nutrients cycling right here at home.

We are grateful for the community you have built with us. This movement is gaining ground, one compost pile at a time. Stay tuned for details on the 2026 conference—can’t wait to dig in with you again next year.
